Sites Covered by This Policy

This policy applies only to the Forum. Other Ubicom Websites are covered by separate privacy policies.

Types of Information Collected by Ubicom

Personally Identifiable Information

When you register to use the Forum, we collect your name and email address and, at your option, your company name, postal address, telephone number, fax number, and URL. During your use of the Forum, we track what files you have downloaded, what support tickets you have submitted, when you have logged in, and the number of forum posts you have made.

Forum Usage Data

During your use of the Forum we will also collect certain Forum usage data, such as your IP address, the Forum pages you have viewed, the type of browser you use, and the completion time for support tickets.

Cookies

Like many Websites, we uses "cookies" to collect information. A cookie is a small data file that we transfer to your computer. We uses cookies for two purposes. First, we utilize persistent cookies to save your user ID and password if you have configured your browser to do so for future logins to the Forum. Second, we utilize session cookies to enable certain features of the Forum and to better understand how you interact with the Forum. Unlike persistent cookies, session cookies are deleted from your computer when you disconnect from the Forum. Aside from your user ID, these cookies do not contain any personally identifiable information. If you would prefer to not to receive cookies, you may set your browser so that it does not receive cookies. If you choose to do this, some areas of the Forum may not function as effectively.

Ubicom’s Use of Your Information

We use the information that you supply to us in several ways. We use your personally identifiable information to provide, monitor, and improve customer support, to provide you information about Ubicom’s and Ubicom’s partners’ products and services, and to solicit your feedback. We associate your personally identifiable information with your Forum usage data in order to better understand and support you as a customer. We also aggregate users’ Forum usage data to improve the usability and efficacy of the Forum. For example, this data tells us what files are downloaded most frequently, which areas of the site are most popular, and the average amount of time it takes to fulfill a support request. We track the number of forum posts for individual users to enable the user ranking system that allows readers to assess the relative interest and expertise of a particular user. Also, we may combine personal data collected online with information you have provided us through other means, such as purchase orders, call centers, or public events.

Sharing Your Information with Third Parties

We use third party service providers, agents, contractors, and suppliers ("Service Providers") to help operate and maintain the Forum. They are obligated to keep your personally identifiable information confidential and to use it only to carry out the services they are performing for Ubicom. For example, from time to time our Web hosting provider may be required to view personally identifiable information or Forum usage data in order to resolve a technical problem or to improve the quality of service. We will not share your personally identifiable information with anyone other than Service Providers unless we have your consent, it is required by law, or, in our judgment, it is necessary to protect our company or our users from loss or liability.

If Ubicom merges with or is acquired by another business entity or acquires some or all of the business assets of another business entity, we may share your personally identifiable information with such entity. If we do, we will make a reasonable effort to notify you by, for example, posting such notice on our Website. In any case, the resulting combined company will adhere to this Privacy Policy in its use of the personally identifiable information you have provided under this Privacy Policy.

Email Communications

We may occasionally send you emails in order to obtain feedback, conduct market research, or inform you of products or services. And, although we do not share your personally identifiable information with our partners, we may send promotional emails on behalf of our partners. At the end of any promotional emails you receive from us, you will find instructions to opt out of further similar communications. Similarly, you may choose to opt out of certain email communications during the registration process, or by editing your preferences in your user profile.

Postings

Because the Forum is accessible by other users, anything that you post is available to such users. By editing your profile, you are able to specify whether to share your name, company name, or email address. If you choose to share such information, it will be visible to other users of the Forum.

Reviewing Your Information and Requesting Changes

You may review the personally identifiable information we have on file by visiting the "User Tools" section of the Forum. There, you may modify or delete information that is incorrect, as well as change your email preferences.

Our standard practice is to retain all registration records. However, if you wish to have your record deleted, please contact us and we will accommodate your request. Ubicom’s privacy contact is provided below.

Children’s Privacy

We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and we encourage parents and guardians to take an active role in their children’s online activities. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of thirteen and we do not target our services to children under thirteen. If we become aware that a child under thirteen has provided us with personally identifiable information, we will use our best efforts to remove such information from our files. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that his or her child has provided us with personally identifiable information without their consent, he or she should contact us at the address provided below.

Information Security

When the Forum is accessed using supported browsers such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology protects your information using both server authentication and data encryption designed to ensure that your personally identifiable information is safe, secure, and available only to you. Furthermore, our hosting provider implements an advanced security method based on dynamic data and encoded session identification, and hosts the site on a secure server environment that is protected by firewalls and other technological means to protect against intrusion or unauthorized access. While no security system is perfect, we have taken reasonable precautions to ensure that your personally identifiable information is protected from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. To maximize the security of your information, select passwords that cannot easily be guessed and be sure to safeguard those passwords from disclosure. Please contact us if you have any information regarding unauthorized use of the Forum.

United States-European Commission "Safe Harbor" Principles

Ubicom will self-certify its privacy practices as consistent with U.S.-E.C. Safe Harbor principles of notice, choice, onward transfer, security, data integrity, access, and enforcement. More information about the U.S. Department of Commerce Safe Harbor Program can be found at http://www.export.gov/safeharbor/.

Changes to the Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time. While we will typically indicate material changes by notice on the Forum, please check from time to time to see if a revised policy has been posted. Each policy is marked with an effective date and, after this policy has been revised for the first time, old policies will be available from an archive link. Your personal information will be treated according to the Privacy Policy that was in effect at the time it was collected. For future reference, our Privacy Policy in its then-current form will be available at the bottom of every page on the Forum Website.
